Fundraisers get their Can Can on for charity
CAN Can dancers surprised hundreds of fundraisers and danced the night away to help youngsters with cancer.
Thousands of pounds was raised for the Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation at its fifth Feather Ball at Stoke by Nayland Golf and Country Club on Saturday night.
The theme, which was kept a secret until the event, was Moulin Rouge and Can Can dancers surprised guests with a performance of the skilful routine.
Nikki Bowdidge, CEO and founder of the Foundation, said: “It was an absolutely amazing night.”
“The look on people’s faces is always something to see when we surprise them and this year’s Feather Ball was no exception.
“Last year singing waiters jumped out after dinner and this year it was the Can Can. It couldn’t have gone better.”
Fundraisers took a spin at the casino while a caricaturist was on hand throughout the night to capture people’s likeness. There were even holidays and nights out to be won at a silent auction.
Live band the Beavers topped off the night with music and dancing and kept the dance floor full until the early hours.
The Feather Ball is the Foundation’s main fundraising event and Nikki is thrilled to announce that just under £18,000 has been raised. This money will be used to provide individual grants and go towards our new research project.
Nikki said: “Every year we see new faces and old supporters at the Feather Ball. Our supporters just keep growing and we cannot thank them enough.”
“Without them none of this would be possible. We are also grateful to each and everyone who donated auction and raffle prizes. Every single penny raised from these will go to direct to the charity.”
