Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

01/09/26 | News

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month takes place every September and aims to generate awareness and support for children facing a cancer diagnosis.

Every day in the UK, 10 children and young people will receive the devastating news that they have cancer. Of those 10, two will not survive. Of those that survive, many will have long-term side-effects that may significantly impact their lives forever.

Getting a childhood cancer diagnosis affects everyone in the family. One day everything is fine, the next day life changes. A family enters a new normal, full of unknowns and uncertainties of what a cancer journey and hospital stay might look like.

Many questions about how it might be in the hospital.  What happens during treatments?  What will my medical treatment look like?  Will I still be able to see my friends and family?

You hear the news that someone close to you has had a cancer diagnosis. You want to help but you are not sure how you can be by their side and show your support.

No parent should ever have to visit the graveside of their child. But heartbreakingly, that is the reality for Nikki and Richard, and for far too many others.

This September, we honour every child and young person affected by cancer and stand beside their families. Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is a time to come together, to raise awareness, encourage fundraising, and show support for those facing the unimaginable.
