Tea 4 Tom
This June or July join us by hosting a Tea 4 Tom Party to celebrate our 10 year anniversary
As part of National Cream Tea Day, we are asking you to join us throughout June or July and host your very own Tea 4 Tom Party.
It’s easy to take part just choose a day, weekend or week and invite your family, friends, group or colleagues all whilst raising vital funds to support teenagers and young adults living with cancer.
Make a small donation to The Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation for every cup of tea (or coffee!) that you sell and help more people like Aiden.
You can make it as fun and imaginative as you like – wear fancy dress (Mad Hatters), hold a ‘Tea and Tunes’ party, make special Tea for Tom cupcakes and hold a raffle.
- Organise a tea or coffee at work or with your local group
- Working from home? having a networking meeting? why not organise a coffee and chat online and ask everyone to give a small donation.
- Host a bake sale at school or college and ask students to make pink and blue themed cakes. Ask the headteacher to pick a winner for a small prize.
- Celebrate your birthday or anniversary by inviting friends over for a tea party and ask for a donation in lieu of presents.
- Plan a Teddy Bears picnic for little ones with your mummy groups or at your nursey school.
HOST YOUR TEA PARTY TO HELP MORE YOUNG PEOPLE LIKE AIDEN
Aiden’s Story
In February 2022 Aiden who is now 15 years old was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the left femur. He immediately started chemotherapy which meant he was in hospital for many weeks. In May 2022 he had an operation to remove the Femur, Knee joint and 50% of his quad muscles. He then continued chemotherapy until October. He didn’t manage to start physiotherapy until March 2023, and this was privately due to the lack of NHS support.
This all came to a crushing halt in August 2023 when he was told the cancer had come back in the ball joint of his left hip. On the 29th August he had another major operation to remove the ball joint, but they had found this had spread to the socket so replaced this as well. Due to his growth finishing they also replaced the current metal work. This ended up taking him back to square one. The family wanted him to do regular physiotherapy sessions to get him back to normal as quick as possible. This ended up being costly. It is thanks to our donors and supporters that the Foundation were able to fund some physiotherapy sessions for Aiden.
No child should go through this especially, twice.
How you would BAKE a difference
Here are just a few ways of how your fundraising could help.
£50 could help towards travel costs for a young person to get to hospital for chemotherapy or for private physiotherapy treatment.
£100 could help towards a wig or mesh hair whilst a young person is going through treatment or to help with buying some new clothes because they have put on or lost weight.
£350 could help towards a laptop so the young person can carry on studying and keep in touch with family and friends whilst in hospital or isolating at home.
We rely solely on the generosity of our wonderful supporters and fundraisers to enable us to do our work. YOU can help us make a significant difference in the lives of teenagers and young adults living with cancer by hosting a Tea 4 Tom party.
